Zalipie is a small colorful village over 100 km North-East of Krakow. The tradition of painting houses reaches the XIX century. Those houses didn’t have chimneys and smoke from hearths-covered walls. The idea of painting walls comes from local hostesses. Nowadays there are around 20 old beautiful painted houses, some of those are part of the Ethnographic Museum in the town Tarnow.
